The department has wide variety of interests divided between Astronomical and Meteorological subjects. The study of the atmosphere and space and there effects on our planet and our life is of the interest of our staff.

Research Groups:
The Astronomical groups include Celestial Mechanics Group covers satellite motion, space dynamics, and planetary perturbation while Astrophysics Group is studying solar physics, star evolution and star formation. The two groups work on the common astronomical phenomena and the calculations of the beginnings of Arabic months, prayers times and the direction of Kabba, Makkah (Qebla).

The Meteorological groups include Solar Radiation, climate modeling etc …
